OptSwap is inspired by, and builds upon, the rock-solid foundations laid by Uniswap and The Graph. The protocol is fully composable with Uniswap V2 & V3. Our DAO Governance structures are organized similar to Curve DAO, MakerDAO and Aave.
Every parameter of the protocol is governance controlled. Any member of the public can create new proposals. All proposals are reviewed and voted on democratically.
Only Vote-Escrowed OptSwap (veOS*) Token holders may participate in voting. This ensures that the principals of the protocol are aligned with the values of long-term token holders.
All Fees generated by the Decentralized Exchanges are continuously disbursed to stakers in real-time. You can withdraw your accrued fees or staking rewards at any time.

We maintain the industrys lowest possible margin requirements ("Margin Minimums") for all positions. Non-directional multi-legged strategies (such as iron condors, iron butterflies, box spreads, etc.,) avail a Margin Benefit and require only a single legs margin to be funded thereby doubling the capital efficiency for option spread writers. This is possible because only one of the legs will ever expire In-The-Money (ITM). If your exchange or broker doesn't offer this benefit, then you're depositing excessive margin!
OptSwap is a Fully Collateralized protocol. This is a core tenet of our zero counterparty risk guarantees. Please read the Margin Requirements section of the documentation for complete details for all possible strategies.
OptSwap Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) maintains the protocol via governance proposals which are voted on-chain democratically by veOS* holders.
The governance wields a range of core faculties — from the creation of new Oracles, DEXes & AMMs; Setting Fees, Staking Rewards & Treasury Operations; to the creation of Fundraising Rounds, Airdrops and Issuance of Commercial Paper.
The minimum quorum required to pass & execute any proposal is 67% of the vote-escrowed tokens (or more than two-thirds majority). This enforces decentralization and ensures that all decisions are arrived at with near-unanimous consensus or not executed at all. It's easy! You must first have a Crypto Wallet (such as MetaMask) installed and funded with some Cryptocurrency or Stablecoins. If you want to get some practice paper-trading, head on over to our Testnet Faucet to grab some Mock Tokens and ensure you switch to a supported Testnet network.
Connect your wallet to the DApp by clicking the "Connect Wallet" button on the top-right. Please take some time to go through the Privacy Policy, Risk Warnings and Terms and Conditions. After agreeing, you will be able to start trading immediately!
The main screen consists of an Options Chain with Calls on the left and Puts on the right. Click the "B" button to Buy or "S" button to Sell the Call or Put at a particular Strike Price. You can change various parameters such as the Option Style, Expiry Date or Lot Size for the Options you want to trade using the filters.
You can Buy Calls if you're bullish, or Buy Puts if you're bearish and pay the Option Premium being quoted. You can also post a Limit Order if you only want to pay a specific price for the Option and patiently wait until you get filled.
These premiums fluctuate based on various market conditions such as the Spot Price of the Underlying Asset, Implied Volatility and Time Remaining Until Expiry. The advantage of buying options is that buyers have an unlimited upside potential with limited downside risk. But, the risk does exist that the option may become worthless if it expires Out-of-The-Money (OTM).
Options Writing (Selling) is a slightly more advanced and riskier strategy. However, it is used by the "strong hands," i.e. the large institutions and whales because of the advantage that it usually has a higher probability of success. The major risk is that the Options Writer bears potentially unlimited losses on their position if it expires In-The-Money (ITM).
OptSwap has been very carefully designed, from the ground-up, to be completely Decentralized, Fully Collateralized & Non-Custodial.
The protocol is Decentralized because it runs on public, distributed blockchains & there is no centralized party that can manipulate the trading or settlement prices. The settlement prices are derived from a Decentralized Meta Oracle which observes Liquidity and Time Weighted Average Prices (LTWAPs) across multiple On-Chain Decentralized Liquidity Pools. The Meta Oracle only tracks the most liquid Cash/Spot DEXes with the highest volumes and largest number of users.
Its functionality and continuity does not depend on any single party or group. All trades & settlements are handled on-chain by open smart contracts which are fully collateralized and publicly callable for all critical functions. Anyone can join the network and become an OptSwap Miner permissionlessly.
The protocol has Zero Counterparty Risk because it is Non-Custodial and all orders & positions are always Fully Collateralized. There is no way for the Counterparty to prevent rightful settlements. All trades & settlements are recorded on-chain, and are final & irreversible! All the data is open and publicly available, in real-time, for free.
More realistically — we are currently in Testnet (Public Alpha) and in the process of ironing out performance issues. We are working to ensure that we have 100% automated test coverage and complete technical & legal audits before we hit mainnet.
We are taking the most conservative and responsible path possible to mainnet due to the nature of blockchains and smart contracts! This project is a very ambitious technical challenge. It is imperative that we get this right the first time around because our code is dealing with your hard earned crypto and we take the job very seriously!
